Pablo Escalona R.

Doctorado en Sistemas de Ingeniería. Universidad de Chile.

For more than 10 years, I worked at the Integrated Manufacturing and Automation Center (CIMA UTFSM), leading industrial projects related to the design, operation and improvement of manufacturing systems in several companies in Valparaiso, Chile. Since 2014, I am a full time faculty member of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, currently teaching  courses on operations management for upper level undergraduates and MS students.

My research focuses on supply chain network design in general, and inventory control and facility location models in particular.  I am currently studying the effect of several inventory policies on the design of distribution networks that are able to provide differentiated service levels in terms of product availability for several demand clases.  I am also studing problems in capacity expantion planning and reliability of electrical networks.
